Intelligence Quotient,
People are often left wondering what exactly the importance of having a high IQ is. There are a few main reasons such as; identifying gifted individuals, the development of critical thinking, the early development of different talents, academic success to a certain level, job performance, and socioeconomic advancements such as the level of one’s education, occupation and income. While IQ is still considered having an importance value in life, it is one’s EQ that is a better predictor of achievement and success one will reach. Being aware of one’s IQ level helps to increasingly progress the EQ as well. Those with an advanced level of emotional intelligence will efficiently help others to develop empathy, movement towards positive change, and walk the path of life with not only success, but being able to enjoy the journey as well. Although IQ is also a major component of life, Daniel Goleman states in his book that, “People with well-developed emotional skills are also more likely to be content and effective in their lives, mastering the habits of the mind that foster their own productivity; people who cannot marshal some control over their emotional life fight battles hat sabotage their ability for focused work and clear thought.” The emotional intelligence is becoming the most important thing, leaving intellect behind. While having great intellect in the real world is still needed, it is no longer the deciding factor for what makes us humans, human.
